Marie-Josée Bergeron obtained a Fine Arts Diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Design from the Université de Quebec in Montreal. For several years she was an Art Director and special TV correspondent for TVA network as well as for design trade shows, residential and design projects. As visual artist and creative expert within corporate environments, her objective is to endorse and influence the greater public on the importance and necessity of the visual arts and cultural arts in our society.
Her work is regularly presented Internationally at Art Fairs notably in New York City, Hamburg and Stockholm. Her work is present in many private collections. She is represented in Montreal by Arteria Gallery and in France by Carré d’Artistes.

The underlying tendency of my artistic works lies in questioning the biological essence of life and the physical makeup of matter: the overall concepts of transformation and metamorphosis. In constant search of textures, I take pictures and gather materials to return to the studio. All matter is sought as stimuli to glean visual cues and serve as inspiration. I envision the canvas as a broad surface rather than simply a surface hosting a predominating image. The surface becomes a pretext for my spontaneous and intuitive experiments with matter. It is from these beginnings, and the hues & colors from a preselected palette that I stage a visual and chromatic presentation. I freely and instinctively stroke the canvas, allowing shapes, lines and forms to outline random recognizable images. In my painting a shape is gradually fashioned one brush stroke spawned from the previous one. It is happenstance guiding my works to take their form.
